So far, it is unclear what caused this explosion, and no group has claimed responsibility.

A number of civilians were killed and injured in an explosion in Kabul’s third security zone near the Dehmazang intersection.

According to Esteqlal Hospital’s records seen by Baang, three individuals were killed and 13 injured were taken to the hospital.

In a communication to the media, Khalid Zadran, the spokesman for the Taliban command in Kabul, confirms this fact.

According to witnesses, the explosion took place about 1:00 pm local time on Wednesday in a cafe near Afghanistan Electricity Company’s side.

One of the witnesses to the incident, Mohammad Ali, who lives in the area, told Baang that the explosion was caused by explosives. “When the explosion happened, people initially assumed it was a gas tank, but we later discovered that it was not. All of the poor people killed and injured were shopkeepers and business owners.” Ali continued.

“I witnessed several dead bodies and wounded with my own eyes, which people loaded in cars and transferred,” one of the witnesses to this incident, who requested that his name not be included in this report because he is afraid of being persecuted by the Taliban, told Baang

Meanwhile, Afghanistan’s Electricity Company (Brishna) announced in a statement that a number of its employees were killed in the explosion, but no figures were provided.

Social media videos of the explosion showed people carrying the injured and those believed to be dead.

The Taliban Ministry of Interior Affairs initially told the media that the explosion was caused by a gas balloon, however it was later revealed that the tragedy was caused by an implanted mine.

So far, it is unclear what caused this explosion, and no group has claimed responsibility.
